Carl Axelsson joins World Food Trading as Partner

BUSINESS NEWS

Axelsson has spent 25 years at ICA, the largest grocery retailer in the Nordics, where he managed the supply chain for one of the most demanding categories in food retail:
fresh produce. From ICA’s Helsingborg office, he worked on getting fruit and vegetables into stores in the right quality, the right volume and at the right time.

He joins World Food Trading with a clear mandate: to build long-term partnerships with retail chains across Sweden, Denmark, Norway.

“I’ve seen from the retailer’s side what it takes to be a supplier people can rely on, week in and week out. World Food Trading has direct access to growers around the world and a team that makes things happen. My job is to connect that with the Nordic retailers I know so well.”

Inside Nordic retail

Fresh produce is a category where margins are tight, shelf life is crucial, and open dialogue and good feedback build long-lasting relationships.
Carl knows how a large Nordic chain plans its range, buys and evaluates suppliers, and what it needs to see before taking on a new partner.

Building on a global platform

World Food Trading already supplies Turkish melons to major Scandinavian supermarket chains, and with the acquisition of Sweet Fresh Produce, the group now sources across Europe, North Africa, South America and North America. Axelsson’s role is to turn that global supply base into year-round programmes for Nordic retail.
